Curl Budget LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Benchpress platform. Protecting your information is a priority. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Your email address, provided when you sign up or sign in via magic link.
  • PACER credentials: Your PACER username and password, which you provide voluntarily in order to access PACER data through the Service.
  • Usage data: Information about how you use the Service, including cases tracked, searches performed, and features accessed.
  • Server logs: IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps of requests.

We do not collect social security numbers, financial account information, or other sensitive personal data beyond what is described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service, including authenticating with PACER on your behalf;
  • Send you email notifications about new docket entries for your tracked cases;
  • Send you transactional emails such as magic link sign-in messages;
  • Monitor and improve the performance and reliability of the Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising purposes or sell it to third parties.

3. How We Protect Your Information

Your PACER credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption before being stored in our database. We never store your PACER password in plaintext. PACER session tokens are short-lived and stored separately from your credentials.

We implement physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Information We Share

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party providers for hosting (Vercel), database services (Neon/PostgreSQL), email delivery (Resend), and analytics (Google Analytics). These providers access your data only as necessary to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request.
  • Protection of rights: We may disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of Curl Budget LLC, our users, or the public.

We do not share your personal information with non-affiliated companies for their marketing purposes.

5. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies to maintain your authenticated session and remember your preferences. These are essential cookies required for the Service to function.

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data, including page views and feature usage. Google Analytics may set its own cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and tracked case data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we will delete your personal information, including stored PACER credentials and tracked case data, within 30 days of cancellation.
